PURPOSE:
Offer the opportunity for each student to participate in a team sport, as well as reach their full potential as a swimmer.
Stress values of respect, sportsmanship, honesty, integrity, teamwork, physical fitness, discipline, and goal orientation to promote the growth of each individual.
TEAM POLICIES:
1) APPEARANCE: Participants are required to wear a team swimsuit, which will be selected prior to the season, at all swim meets. You are requested to dress properly as you will represent yourself, Mauldin High School, and the swim program.
2) CLASS ATTENDANCE: Your first responsibility is to your classes and schoolwork. No coach will intercede with the teachers. You must be committed to a disciplined schedule that includes planning ahead fro school, family, work, and team obligations.
3) CONDUCT: Participants are expected to follow all directions and instructions from the coaching staff. Disrespectful attitudes towards coaches, other teams, or other members of our team will NOT be tolerated. Loud or inappropriate language, horseplay or unsafe actions, lying, stealing and/or vandalism may result in disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from the team. There will be no smoking and no drugs. (Prescription medications must be signaled to the coaching staff.) All members of the team are representatives of Mauldin High School and therefore are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. They must show team spirit and encouragement to all of their teammates at all times.
4) PRACTICE AND MATCHES: Participants will be expected to attend all practices (minimum of 85% is required to continue as part of the team roster) and swim meets unless other arrangements have been made ahead with the coach. Any expected absences must be reported directly to the coach. Everyone will remain until the meet is concluded, whether you are swimming or not. All members of the team have made a commitment to the team and must fulfill all obligations therein.
5) GENERAL: The coach will address any other questions that may arise not outlined in above rules.
